Buddy 2015-2016 & 2016-2017
Last year I moved to Tilburg as I started my master degree at the Tilburg University and soon I noticed the relatively large size of I*ESN here. I was really excited when I was accepted to be a Buddy in the spring semester. This was one of the best things that happened to me in Tilburg and I instantly felt at home within the association!
Together with two amazing co-buddies and one board member we got assigned a group of 26 masters students all starting their TiSEM master. Even though everybody had different backgrounds, arriving from anywhere in the world, we instantly had a lot of fun together. It was really interesting to hear about the differences between countries, but we also shared interests such as having a good dinner and partying. Some other things I really liked about being a buddy is being part of a big and active association of international people which gives you many options to join parties and activities, but you don’t have to feel pressured to join all of them.
The first time we met was during the TOP-week before the study program started. During this intensive week we spend a lot of time together doing all kinds of activities and parties, which was a great opportunity to get to know each other. After the TOP-week, we had a buddy dinner every two-weeks for which we divided everyone in groups of three/four people who were in charge of the dinner that week. Everybody put a lot of effort to make a nice international dinner, so it was always a pleasure to found out what was on the menu next. Besides our dinners, we also attended many parties and other activities throughout the semester. Some of the highlights were the introduction weekend, the international beercantus, celebrating carnaval, and the end of the semester gala.
Next semester I will be a buddy again, so I look forward to meeting a new group of people, buTt I also hope to keep meeting my former buddy group since they will all stay here for one-year minimum to finish their masters.
